The President of Iceland Visits Gogogic

October 31, 2008 by Jónas Antonsson

Last week the president of Iceland, Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, visited Gogogic. He familiarized himself with the company, its background and future plans.

The visit was most welcome, especially because we here at Gogogic got the opportunity to talk about Icelandic startup companies and the environment that they have delt with over the past couple of years. We also got to present our ideas for fixing and improving the environment, so in the future there will be more support for companies like Gogogic.

Currently, given the economic situation, it is vital to look closely at startup companies and etrepreneurs. They hold the key to building future economic success.

We want to thank Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson for visiting and for the chance to present our company and our vision.

Stellar Review for Stack’em!

September 15, 2008 by Jónas Antonsson

Inside Social Games reviewed Stack’em last Saturday. Here is an excerpt of what they had to say:

The game play is very simple and easy to learn (stack sheep until you miss three times and loose) which is something more developers should take to heart (you’ve all heard the saying). Gogogic knows the game is simple, so instead of piling on loads of complicated features that so many other designers do, they instead choose to polish this one feature to be as fun and amusing as possible. The game is just funny, and it’s impossible to play without cracking a smile.

Stack’em Released - First Facebook Game!

September 3, 2008 by Jónas Antonsson

Ladies and gentlemen! We’ve released our very first Facebook game - Stack’em. The story behind the game is simple: stack as many sheep as you possibly can and create the ultimate tower of bleeping sheep! Easy and doable by pressing a single button (although, repeatedly).

When we decided to build games for Facebook, we also wanted to start by launching something simple and addictive. We think we’ve achived that with Stack’em.

We’re currently ironing out a couple of minor issues and we will be updating the game every day for the next week or so. Further updates depend on how well the game does with the Facebook crowd. But we’d love all and any pointers/comments that you maight have :)

And oh… We expect to release at least 2 more Facebook games over the next few weeks, with more games rolling out before Christmas!

If you have a Facebook account, add Stack’em here!

Minister of Commerce visits Gogogic

September 3, 2008 by Jónas Antonsson

The Minister of Commerce, Björgvin G. Sigurðsson, visited Gogogic in August. We invited him so he could familiarize himself with the realities of an Icelandic start-up company.

He stayed for an hour and we discussed the game industry, the current economic situation and the potential of Icelandic entertainment companies. Overall, we had a very good meeting and we enjoyed talking to one of Iceland’s ministers.

Iceland Socks, the Outtakes

July 8, 2008 by Ari

What do you get when you mix the “good people” of Gogogic with beer and sock puppets?

The answer? More outtakes than actual footage, and it would be selfish of us to keep them to ourselves, now wouldn’t it?

Behold, the socks uncensored! (No, really - we’re not kidding. This is uncensored stuff and not for people that can’t handle… you know… stuff that should be censored! Don’t say we didn’t warn you…)

GogoGames 2008

June 16, 2008 by Ari

Last Friday (the 13th), at 13:13, the first GogoGames were held here at Gogogic. We’re talking about a tournament that spans a whole afternoon and involves 9 separate events. It is so intense that friends and family have to be notified weeks in advance, since contestants must undergo vigorous training while preparing for such dangerous events as Foosball, Nerf gun accuracy shooting and “Kubb - The Viking Game”.

Well - last Friday the suspension was overwhelming as Team Siggi and Team Jónas battled it out for the title of “Gogo Champions 2008″, with the losers having to settle for being the “Gogo Losers 2008″.

It was an exciting day, there were injuries (both to body and ego) but you don’t have to take our word for it, we have it all on tape:

Enjoy (especially the incident at 2:37 - there are cars down there…).
